David Phillipson

At 18 years of age David has already achieved a World Ranking in Wheelchair Tennis inside the top 50 and is currently No 2 in GB. He will be someone to watch for the future.

David is based in Nottingham but splits his Tennis Training between Loughborough and The Nottingham Tennis Centre where he combines fitness training in the gymnasium with on court training. He is being coached by Martyn Whait the GB Wheelchair Mens Coach.

“My long term goal is a podium finish at the 2012 Olympics (Gold that is!) and hopefully I can achieve selection for Beijing in 2008 which would be a great experience for meâ€

2007 started well for David achieving selection to compete in the Junior Masters event in Tarbes France and reach the final of singles, and won the doubles event with his junior partner Gordon from Scotland. He was also part of the Junior GB Team that won for the first time The Junior World Team Cup played in Sweden.

David has used Bromakin Wheelchairs both for sport and everyday living since he was 6 years old. He is also a keen Basketball Player and Hand Bike enthusiast although eighteen months ago realised that to achieve his goals at Tennis he had to devote all his time to Tennis. He is currently mid way through a tournament programme around the world that will see him complete 15 tournaments’ by the end of 2007 and hopefully achieve his goal of a World Ranking inside the top 30.
